TP 202: Series
For this week's Thematic Photographic, Carmi has chosen a different tack with 'Series', and has started us of with some fantastic shots of his own!
I have chosen this series of photos of me walking across Sandwood Bay in the far north west of Scotland, last week. I love how the footprints become more important than the person who made them... a reflection of life perhaps?

TP 194: Strong Lines
Whenever I see the word 'lines', I immediately think of boats, since when we see a design we say "what beautiful lines" (or not as the case may be!).
Boats consist of so many lines when you start looking at them, in the hull, the rig and the sails.

I also liked the photo below, how the man-made lines of the hotel mix with the natural verticals of the palm trees..

TP 193: Faith
What an appropriate theme from Carmi this week....
When I was hopping around for 6 months, missing even walking the dog, I always had faith that I would once again stand on a summit... maybe not the highest in the world but this was a good start - and the first of many more!
There is nothing like having something taken away from you to make you realise that the effort really IS worth it.

Thematic Photographic 189 'Branded'
Apologies to Carmi that it's quite a while since I participated in Thematic Photographic, for various reasons - mainly that of being out of serious blogger mode!
But here is a just-in-time offering for this week's TP189 'Branded'.
Mr H and I were talking about the fact that branding need not be a name, it could just be a shape like a Coke bottle. In the absence of a Coke bottle to demonstrate, another image came to mind:

An apology...
...to Carmi (Thematic Photographic) and Illustration Friday, and the other arty weekly things that I used to find time to take part in... I haven't for a while. And it's not that I couldn't find the time, it's just that I've got out of the habit of waiting with baited breath to see what this week's subject is going to be... sadly this is what happened now I'm back in the office full time. And my arty mojo seems to have gone A.W.O.L. now my head is full of science and psychology and stuff like that.
If I can do it occasionally if not every week, I hope that you won't hold that against me.

TP 132: Curves
Where does the curve of today's path lead.....?
The dusty, comforting curves of home.

TP 131: Blue
I saw this while I was idly waiting in the van for Mr H one day, and was glad I had the camera handy.

TP 130: Far from home
Bangkok Airport
I took this photo while I was waiting for my connecting flight to Phuket, on my first trip out for the King's Cup regatta in December 2006. I was travelling alone, long haul to a place I'd never been to before, and was a bit trepidatious of everything from finding the taxi at Phuket airport, to what they were expecting of me during the week, to whether I'd know more than two people when I got there.
As usual, all my fears disappeared as things fell into place, and I could enjoy the wondrous differences between Thailand and England.

TP 125: Sepia
I'm not sure whether this is true sepia, but it's as close as I can get! for Thematic Photographic.

TP 122: Electric
May I present my late grandmother's Sunbeam electric hand mixer; a little piece of history, I guess dating from the post-war era.
And yes, it still works!

TP 121: Yellow
Thank you Carmi for the Yellow theme for Thematic Photographic... this morning, feeling crap as I was, a walk around the garden in search of Yellowness was exactly what I needed.
I was going to give you a Yellow Tour, but since blogger decided that most of the photos would look much better on their sides (not), you are limited to these two for now...

My trusty yellow bucket. Isn't it funny how you can get attached to such meaningless inanimate objects? This one is the proof that if you buy the right bucket, it won't split in the first frost when you leave it outside.
The Mahonia is just coming into flower; it flowers from now through December. I caught this little chap having a rest on it out of the wind this morning.

TP 120: Savour
For Carmi's Thematic Photographic this week, as ever my mind has gone off at a different tangent...
As I sat in front of the woodburner the other evening, I became aware that I had no interest in the future, or the past - I was savouring the moment.
That moment of being there, staring at the fire, warming my skin with my dog lying at my feet.
Nothing mattered except the Now.
