"Lovely Lady? no, that's my wife"

Excuse me for sounding like a miserable cow, but what is the whole 'lovely lady' thing that seems to have sprung up on the internet and in texts?

"Happy Birthday lovely lady!"
"It was really good to see you yesterday, lovely lady".

Bleugh! It makes me cringe every time I see it.

There are a couple of girls I know who use it, and when they call me that I want to scream "aaghh don't CALL me that, it makes me want to vomit!"

I just wanted to say that, thank you.

  1. The other one you often see and read now is "Young lady" often said by men to women that are not really that young. If I were them, I'd want to knee the guy in the balls.

I just wanted to say that. :D

  2. Hmm I haven't heard that on this side of the world. My pet name-hate is being called "love" or "dear" by random older women - aaarrrgh!

By the way: your x-rayed progress must be really heartening - all that exercise is clearly paying off! Have a great Sunday.

  3. I thought no one agreed with me on that...lol. I don't like the word lady, because many women who are called that don't deserve it...lol And I really hate it when men call me young lady!! (since I am obviously not young and haven't been for quite a while.)

  4. They're all pretty patronising aren't they! but 'lovely lady' is a relatively new one (the others have always been around) and I hate the way people pick up on it and use it and I HATE IT!

    ahahaha :)

If you'd like to leave a comment, I'd love to hear it.

If you prefer to just read, appreciate and then move on, that's fine too :-)
